Welcome to Maes Mynan Park
Hello and Welcome to Maes Mynan Park. We are delighted to share this hidden gem with you.
Maes Mynan over the years has been in the hands of royalty, ‘the Arcadia of Wales, if not of England’ (Flintshire Observer, 6 June 1873), ‘Little Switzerland’ and a quarry!
Inspired by the natural landscape
Today, Maes Mynan Park is a beautifully located new holiday park development set in 100 acres of rustic Welsh countryside and it’s 1873 accolade ‘Arcadia of Wales’ still holds true today.
Surrounded by woodlands and majestic panoramic views of lakes, the Clwydian Range, Chwiler Valley and the Denbigh Moors, Maes Mynan Park offers the perfect escape to the country for those seeking a tranquil, nature inspired holiday home location in a designated Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Located in Afonwen Caerwys and only 4 miles from junction 31 of the A55 North Wales Expressway, Maes Mynan Park really does hold its own unique charm.
An old quarry evolving into Parkland
Once an old sand and gravel quarry in the 20th century, the site is now evolving into a beautiful mixed leisure holiday park.
With design and nature in perfect balance, phase one of the development is underway and our first luxury holiday lodge is now available to view. Our show home is called The Llewellyn Lodge, so named after the last medieval Princes of Wales.
Perfect holiday home location
All our lodge plots feature panoramic lake and countryside views, allowing holiday home owners wishing to secure a country retreat for their holiday home, to choose their favourite plot first, before they decide on their perfect holiday lodge. This allows our customers to choose what suits them best, and bespoke the interiors of their holiday home to deliver on their dreams.
History has a part to play
Maes Mynan Park is a very special place with an important Welsh cultural heritage that spans many centuries.
Over time, we will travel back through the ages to unearth the true story of the lands at Maes Mynan, sharing with you all that we find. However for a sneak preview we offer a few snippets to whet the appetite. From a Motte, Barrow and Mynan the Giant, to Welsh Kings, Princes and Royal Deer Park, to Tudor Kings, Lords, Ladies and infighting, to farming, brick works and quarry and now holidays, parkland and leisure – we have a lot to discover!
As our research evolves we will anchor the lands heritage in all that we do at Maes Mynan Park. We have started this historic journey by naming our first holiday lodge ‘The Llewelyn Lodge’, to reflect the historical ties the land once had to the medieval Welsh Princes. We will continue to reflect the history of the land in naming other areas around Maes Mynan Park as we evolve and plan to rediscover the legend of Mynan the Giant.
The industrial heritage of Maes Mynan Park is also important to us and we have retained, where possible remnants of that history. For example, the old weighbridge is a feature to the entrance of our office, with extra pieces positioned behind our office log burner.
Large stones we discovered buried around the old weighbridge office have been included in landscaping, sitting proud to welcome visitors and we have even created a small ‘Druids’ style semi-circle with large shards of shale, a nod at the lands prehistoric past and the geological make-up of the land in the surrounding valley.
Holiday homes are a lifestyle choice
Owning a holiday home is a lifestyle choice and we will be working with independent local businesses in Caerwys and Flintshire to offer a range of helpful and interesting amenities ‘On The Doorstep’ to help our customers have memorable, relaxing, enjoyable and magical holidays.
The vision for Maes Mynan Park
Maes Mynan Park has been a vision of Peter’s for over 25 years. He always saw the special beauty of this Acardia of Wales, even when it was a working quarry.
We are very much looking forward to sharing this magical place with you.
